Harvey Disaster Relief

After much prayer, consideration, and reflecting on Matthew 25:34-40, the Elders and staff have made the decision to turn HCC into a collection facility for relief after Hurricane Harvey. All through the month of September, we are going to be collecting supplies and relief items. The vision is to make this a full county or multi-county effort. Another part of the vision is to line the wall of HCC with aid items that will go directly to the people. On October 1st, we will be packing up a semi (or maybe even multiple trucks) as a church, praying over the items, and taking a team down to Texas to unload and serve.

As of right now we are working to coordinate a Christian distribution facility that will allow us to serve the people directly. Many questions are floating around with different aid organizations right now about how much of the donations actually reach the people, how much money is taken off the top, or is stuff just stored in a warehouse somewhere. At HCC we want to take aid from the people and deliver it straight to those in need with the blessing of Christ. No middle-man and everything goes direct.

Please be in prayer on how you can help this effort. We are going to need a large team of volunteers to call on local businesses, account for donations coming in, write letters of encouragement and prayer, and help us load/serve. To the left, you will find a list of items that we have started to collect.

If you want to make a donation, you can drop off items any time during office hours or contact the church at 815-426-2908 to arrange for a specialty dropoff/pickup.
