Herscher Christian Labor Day Chicken Dinner Hosts

Herscher Christian Church takes it's turn in 2008 as hosts of the Herscher Labor Day BBQ Chicken Dinners, providing the meal, preparations, both carry-out and Dine-In meals served in the Herscher High School Cafeteria.   The preparation begins a few weeks before the event, the event day preparation begins in the early morning, and on Labor Day food preparation begins well before the 10 am Parade.  Meal is served beginning immediately following the end of the parade.   Hosting the Labor Day Dinners is Rotated with the Catholic, Lutheran,  Methodist and Christian churches of the Herscher Counsel of Churches on a rotating basis, so each congregation has a turn once every 4 years.  Approximately 1100 meals were served in 2008.  This year, profits from the Dinner were donated to local Benevolence needs in the community and to Missions supported by H.C.C.

Easter Outreach Party

This free event is open to the entire community.    There is a light lunch served, a movie and a short devotion to explain about the REAL Easter.  Then some 9000 candy filled Easter Eggs are "hidden" in clear view in the church yard, the Community Park, inside the sanctuary for the little ones, with special prize eggs for the lucky finders..  Parents help their kids  "harvest' their treats then return the plastic eggs for next year.

Prairie States Christian Service Camp

Each year, Herscher CC provides all the staff (except Cooks and Grounds Keeper). Prairie States is a Co-op owned  camp with about  a dozen or more churches participating churches, but kids attend from well beyond our Church area. It's obviout from these two albums that the staff has as much fun as the kids.  This year "Water Wars" was introduced to the activities.  The camp season is open to everyone regardless of Church affiliations and focus is on sharing the Gospel and having a lot of fun. Camp weeks are Age grouped with kids from K through 12, and even serves Adults and Seniors..
